Moving into veterinary practice management, either from an existing role within practice, or as a manager coming into the veterinary profession, can feel disorientating and confusing, and lead managers to ask, "Where do I start?" or "Am I forgetting to do something important?"; and "What is the simplest and most cost effective way to keep on top of things?" This talk outlines the core "syllabus" of subjects required to master veterinary practice management including the core pillars of HR, Accounts & Finance, Marketing and Operational Management" The talk will also explore the IT/Operational systems which managers should be aware of to keep control of a broad range of management tasks across these core functions - including complying with legislation, tracking employee entitlements, access to and tracking Learning & Development content as well as formulating and implementing marketing initiatives.
