Top tips for discussing chemotherapy with owners (LVS25)

Many people will have preconceived ideas on what chemotherapy for a dog or cat will involve, and these assumptions are usually very negative! In this session we will discuss some ideas on how the nature and safety of treatment can be discussed in an informative and pragmatic way, in order to avoid emotionally-driven decisions.

• What are the adverse effects of common chemotherapy treatments.
• How many discussions of adverse effects in chemo differ from discussion of adverse effects of other drugs.
• How to be informative in a positive way.
