Reptile and Amphibian: Surgery 101 (WWV 2024)

Like all veterinary patients, reptiles and amphibians can benefit from surgery. In some cases, elective surgery (ovariectomy) is beneficial to prevent common reproductive disorders. This presentation introduces the basics of anesthesia, analgesia and surgery.

• Learn the indications for surgery in reptiles and amphibians
• Overview what is currently known about reptile/amphibian anesthesia and analgesia
• Discuss basic approaches to surgery in these species.
