    Acute myelopathies resulting in paraparesis/paraplegia in dogs are commonly encountered in clinical practice. This lecture reviews the clinical, diagnostic approach and treatment plan for the dogs presented with acute myelopathy. The specific disorders that will be covered include: vertebral fractures and luxations (VFL), intervertebral disc extrusions (IVDE) (degenerated IVDE and hydrated nucleus pulposus extrusions (HNPE), and fibrocartilaginous embolic myelopathy (FCEM).
