Fetal growth and development are reliant upon a healthy uterine environment and effective placentation, compromise of these may result in fetal hypoxia, infection or defective development. Once an abnormality is diagnosed, treatment is aimed at helping support the pregnancy by controlling any infection, reducing inflammation, improving the blood flow to the uterus and preventing uterine contractions and hence requires a combination of therapies.
