With the increase awareness of antimicrobial stewardship in the veterinary community, we are changing the way we approach suspected urinary tract infections. Guidelines for managing subclinical bacteriuria as well as recurrent UTI's in dogs have changed along with our increased concerns for antimicrobial resistance.
- Describe the difference between a UTI and bacteriuria
- List assessments of urine, other than culture, which may increase suspicion of the presence of bacteria
- Describe the management of relapsed verses reinfection of urine
