Critical decisions for critical patients: Making the right anaesthetic choices for your critically ill patients

In this session we will examine some examples of a ‘critically ill patient' that may be presented in veterinary practice, and discuss the importance of the nurse's role in pre-anaesthetic evaluation to include assessment of the cardiovascular, respiratory and neurological systems. We will then consider the anaesthetic complications in relation to these systems and how this will influence the anaesthesia plan.
