Urolithiasis is a significant clinical issue in veterinary medicine, often necessitating intervention to alleviate pain and prevent complications in affected animals. Struvite and calcium oxalate uroliths are the most common uroliths affecting both cats and dogs. Traditional management approaches frequently involve surgical removal of the stones, a process that, while effective, can be invasive, costly, and stressful for both the pet and the owner. In this session, we describe the principles behind dietary management of urolithiasis, its effectiveness, and principles of urinary therapeutic diet selection for patients with comorbidities.
