Pyrexia of unknown origin cases can often feel daunting...particularly in a 15 minute consult slot. This lecture aims to discuss the importance of history taking and a detailed physical examination, to help implement a problem based approach to these cases.
This can be used to decide if presumptive treatment might be appropriate and how to recognise when cases require further investigation.
- To differentiate pyrexia from hyperthermia
- To identify common differentials of true pyrexia
- To understand the importance of detailed history taking and a thorough clinical examination
- To identify a pragmatic approach to investigating pyrexia
