Acute pancreatitis in the canine: Diagnosis and management

Canine acute pancreatitis is a complex multifactorial disease of dogs which can be life threatening when severe and not promptly recognised or treated. This talk will review recent advances in the understanding of risk factors and pathophysiology of disease. The speaker will also critically yet practically evaluate the performance of laboratory tests and adominal ultrasound in the diagnosis of the disease. Finally, recent advances in treatment strategies will be discussed with the aim of optimising outcome and prognosis.
