Working as a relief or locum veterinarian is an exciting and viable career choice within the veterinary profession. The need for this business-to-business service is growing along with the exploding pet population. We will discuss the benefits of working as a relief vet along with some of the less desirable aspects to paint a realistic picture. We'll talk about the unique skill sets required of those who are stewards of other's practices. An overview of the business considerations for independent contractors such as choosing a business entity, insurance, and taxes will be presented. Finally, we'll discuss how to find work and form great relationships with practices.
