Pet poultry - Don't panic!

This session will enable you to examine family (pet & backyard) poultry with confidence. We will start by making sure you can identify subtle clinical signs in sick hens to better define and refine your problem lists in practice. We will then follow the case of Marjorie the hen who displays the typical presentation of a common condition. We will use her case management to discuss responsible prescribing in relation to antibiotics and other medicines, ensuring you are able to advise appropriate withdrawal periods to protect public health. Finally, we will discuss how the bird should be nursed and managed to improve outcomes and protect their welfare, so you can impress your clients with your “Hen-knowledge”.
