Every day we are bombarded with information in the form of social media, marketing material, professional guidance, published (and unpublished) research, expert opinion and much more. It can be very compelling and emotive in persuading us what is the best thing for our patients, and driving change in our practices. But only rarely is there a single best way to do something and the phrase “gold standard” is thankfully becoming a thing of the past. And as we all know, the most impressive and persuasive arguments aren't always right in the long run.
To be progressive providers of health care, there are some key skills in evidence-based medicine that the whole team can learn to ensure that hype doesn't alter clinical decisions and adversely effect outcomes for our patients and ourselves. From testing for Brucella canis to treating cat bite abscesses to new drugs on the market and much more, this session has it covered.
