Mycobacteria are of clinical importance in our patients, but what does it all really mean? From mycobacteria to feline leprosy syndrome and non-tuberculous mycobacteriosis. Which organisms matter and why? Most cats present with cutaneous disease, although some have systemic involvement. Diagnosis is challenging because there are no pathognomonic histopathological changes and many mycobacteria fail to culture, so molecular diagnostics are required. This lecture will review the microbiology, clinical diagnosis and next steps in these challenging cases.

  • - Mycobacterial disease, which organisms matter and why?
  • - Discuss the different clinical presentations of this condition
  • - Learn about the most up to day diagnostic techniques
