As horse vets, it is sometimes easy to overlook more subtle myopathic causes of poor performance in our patients, because we disregard either non-specific disease features (such as paresis) or become overly reliant on expecting a massive rise in CK or AST. This presentation will discuss approaches to various myopathic causes of poor performance other than more classic tying up.
- Understand that muscle diseases have a wide spectrum of clinical features that are sometimes overlooked.
- Learn how and when to evaluate horses with a possible myopathic cause of their poor performance
- Learn about common and rare myopathic causes of poor performance seen in UK horses.
