The post anaesthetic period has been shown to carry a high risk of mortality in small animal species. Half of the post-anaesthetic canine mortality occurred within 3-hours of the end of anaesthesia. This talk will discuss strategies to reduce this risk, and what influence the choice of anaesthetic drugs may have on the recovering patient.
