Session Description:
Systemic hypertension is a common but often under-recognized condition in small animal practice. This session will explore how to identify at-risk patients, understand the impact of hypertension on target organs, and effectively measure blood pressure in clinical settings. Attendees will also gain practical guidance on interpreting blood pressure results and initiating evidence-based treatment protocols for both feline and canine patients. Special emphasis will be placed on emerging therapies, monitoring strategies, and optimizing outcomes.

Differentiate between idiopathic, secondary, and situational hypertension in veterinary patients
Apply updated ACVIM guidelines for blood pressure classification and risk stratification in cats and dogs
Perform accurate and consistent blood pressure measurements using Doppler and automated blood pressure measuring devices
Identify clinical signs and target organ damage associated with systemic hypertension
Develop individualized treatment plans and monitoring strategies for hypertensive patients
