Top tips for spotting a neurological cause of lameness (LVS25)

This presentation uses a cases-based approach to determining whether lameness is of neurologic or orthopaedic origin, with a focus on gait assessment and a hands-on neurologic examination. We will also cover common management options and more recent developments for degenerative spinal diseases.

• Identify abnormal features of the canine gait that might indicate a neurologic component
• Understand how the neurologic examination can identify deficits of the peripheral and central nervous system
• Appreciate the medical and surgical management options for neurogenic lameness in dogs
