Supporting your new graduate – what have we learnt? (LVS25)

Transitioning from veterinary student to qualified professional is a pivotal and often challenging phase. This session reflects on the lessons learned from supporting new veterinary graduates through their early career development phase; we will explore common early-career challenges, the evolving expectations of graduates, and the critical role of mentorship in creating psychologically safe, supportive environments. Practical strategies and real-world examples will help attendees reflect on their own mentoring approaches and take away ideas to strengthen graduate support within their teams.
