Strategic Approach to Equine Laminitis (WWV 2024)

Equine laminitis is a devastating disease, but is also largely preventable with proper husbandry and veterinary care. The various types of laminitis will be discussed, with an emphasis on endocrinopathic laminitis. The focus will be on how to recognize at-risk equids, preventative strategies, and treatment options for active laminitis cases.

• Recognize equids at risk for laminitis
• Understand the fundamentals of laminitis prevention, including key diagnostics to recommend and changes to husbandry practices
• Discuss treatment options available for actively laminitic cases
