The session is designed for all nurses in both in a general practice and referral setting who look after patients with cancer. All relevant nursing considerations with be outlined to allow the RVN to deliver a holistic approach to patient care, ensuring the patient maintains a good quality of life.
- You will gain a better understanding of general chemotherapy side effects, including nursing support post chemotherapy administration
- We will discuss drug specific side effects and nursing considerations prior to chemotherapy administration
- The patient's chemotherapy journey will be evaluated and you will be able to gain a wider understanding of the nurse's role when caring for a veterinary oncology patients
- We will briefly outline how to monitor patient quality of life and how to provide adequate client support following diagnosis
