In this session we will explore the species-specific and individual needs of cats, and how these can influence their emotional state and behaviour at the veterinary clinic. We will look at what cat-friendly interactions are and the current evidence and resources available for veterinary professionals on this topic. We will discuss how applying cat-friendly techniques in the consult room aids with examinations and procedures and can help improve clinical outcomes of feline patients, whilst keeping the veterinary team safe and building trust with caregivers. Each cat and situation are different, so we will be thinking creatively and practically while examining some case-studies of how to troubleshoot and manage individual cats that are emotionally challenged when presented in the consulting room.

    • - Summarise the fundamentals of cat friendly interactions
    • - Describe how cat friendly interactions benefit veterinary professionals at the clinic
    • - Explain how cat-friendly interactions contribute to improved welfare and better clinical outcomes for cats
