How to: Joint taps (LVS25)

The presentation will focus on how, when and why we might consider arthrocentesis as a useful diagnostic tool. Practical tips will be given to try and optimise operator confidence and improve the diagnostic yield

• Identify indications for performing arthrocentesis
• Describe how to optimise diagnostic yield
• Explain interpretation of the results
• Formulate treatment strategy based on findings
• Recognise limitations of the technique
