How to discuss nutrition and not make it into an argument

Many veterinary professionals will avoid talking about nutrition and making nutritional recommendations as they are worried about entering into a conversation that might end up in a disagreement. Nutrition can be very emotive, the reason for people feeding a specific diet being based not on scientific evidence but on opinions and beliefs. Questioning people's beliefs needs to be approached with care.
