Brain before bladder: Management of Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (LVS 2024)

That higher centre input is involved in the manifestation of pain and distress in episodes of feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC), is a well known and accepted concept.
What we may have lost sight of, is the frequent mismatch between provision of resources in the environment and the physiological and psychological requirements of the every day cat.
This lecture will review some of what is known about the complex pathophysiology of FIC. By integrating an understanding of this, with a cat-centered view of the environment, the listener can develop a fresh appreciation of the preventative measures, and the holistic treatment strategies, that are likely to be associated with the best chance of success when faced with a feline that is prone to FIC.
