Patients haemorrhaging can be stressful during surgery and anaesthesia. This lecture focuses on how to prevent intra-operative and post-operative haemorrhage by identifying and managing risk factors and will include recognition and management of the physiological and clinical consequences of haemorrhage. A case-based approach will be used to discuss perioperative stabilisation and a variety of haemostasis techniques and practical tips for the general practitioner.
