Recent developments are pointing us towards the relevant role of the microbiome on the pathogenesis and perpetuation of chronic enteropathies. These developments have allowed way to new therapeutic interventions, which can provide success without the addition of antibiotics or steroids in these chronic patients. During this lecture, we will investigate the different roles the microbiome plays in health and disease and will discuss new therapeutic approaches for patients with chronic enteropathies, including Fecal Microbiota Transplantation.
