Medial patella luxation is a common developmental orthopedic abnormality which often causes of lameness in dogs. While the diagnosis of medial patella luxation is simple, implementing appropriate treatment is more cerebral. The decision to treat and if so what options should be implemented are critical to an optimal outcome, particularly in dogs with higher grade luxations or concurrent cranial cruciate ligament insufficiency. This lecture will address the current state of management for medial patellar luxation.
