Monitoring of anesthesia patients typically includes pulse rate, respiratory rate, end-tidal carbon dioxide, SpO2, blood pressure, temperature and ECG. However, ECGs can, at times be the most challenging. Our discussion will cover arrhythmias seen in anesthesia patients, which can be associated with anesthesia, disease processes, or cardiac disease. This case-based discussion will include the common underlying causes, effects on mechanical performance, and current treatment protocols.
