Episodes of acute kidney injury (AKI) are common in cats with chronic kidney disease (CKD). There is an abrupt increase in uraemia, worsening of clinical signs and the potential for further permanent damage to kidney function. This session highlights the importance of recognising and managing acute on chronic kidney disease, focussing on common reversible causes and the approach to their identification and management.
