Extra-Mural Studies (EMS) is the additional workplace experience gained by students during their degree. This provides students with a unique opportunity to see practice in a range of veterinary workplaces, practice the skills they have learned during the programme in a non-academic setting, and gain valuable insight into working as a veterinary surgeon.
Veterinary students on RCVS accredited programmes currently need to complete 38 weeks of Extra-Mural Studies (EMS) as part of their programme, across the 5 years of study.
- Understanding of:
- The new EMS Policy for the future
- Initiatives under development to help support students, vet schools and EMS providers in delivering EMS
