Every veterinary consult involves human interaction and some level of human behaviour change, yet vets and vet nurses often report feeling under-equipped in their knowledge of this topic. This panel brings together three researchers in behaviour change, who will present an introduction to the topic and then consider the contributors to behaviour change in relation to three diverse issues: owner adherence to medication protocols and regular healthcare checks for cats, obesity in horses, and antibiotic use in food producing animals. Following presentations, a panel discussion with audience participation will consider these and other instances of behaviour change in veterinary medicine. Bring along your questions and case studies!
- How the COM-B model of change can be used to consider the barriers and enablers to change in three examples
- How behaviour change analysis can lead to targeted interventions which aim to bring about change
- Aspects vets can consider in practice to facilitate behaviour change, whether working in small animal, equine, or farm
