In this session, Loni will discuss the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on socialisation in companion animals.
Loni will outline the factors that have led to wide-ranging issues with social interactions both inside and outside of the home, focusing mainly on dogs, but with reference to cats also.
The session will go on to focus on the emotional components motivating unwanted social behaviours, how these can be ameliorated through behavioural treatment and how future issues with socialization can be avoided through appropriate socialization at various developmental stages.
- Develop an understanding of appropriate and inappropriate socialisation
- Understand the emotional motivation for unwanted social behaviours
- Identify ways in which behavioural treatment can modify unwanted social behaviours
