As medical advances increase patient life expectancy, we see more and more patients with chronic disease. General anesthesia is commonly needed to perform wellness procedures (dental), advanced imaging(MRI, CT), diagnostics (endoscopy), and surgery. In our feline friends' age brings an increased incidence of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, hyperthyroidism, and chronic renal failure. This case-based discuss will review the disease processes and special anesthesia requirements unique to each of these diseases.
