Anesthesia in patients requiring abdominal surgery is commonly oversimplified and poorly prepared for. These patients may appear stable but can quickly decompensated secondary to anesthesia or surgical manipulation. While other cases prompt aggressive pre-anesthesia planning due to their disease processes and unstable nature. Anticipating any and all possible complications can improve outcome and decrease post-surgical complications. Our discussion will highlight cases from both groups.
