Patellar luxation is a common problem in dogs. While luxations can be simply classified based on how often the patella is luxated, the causes of patellar luxations and the decision-making for their management a much more complex. The impact of patellar luxation ranges from a minor nuisance to a severe problem that may lead to severe and permanent disability. This lecture will review the evaluation of patients with patellar luxation and will describe and discuss the range of treatment options.
