This session will explore all aspects of the carbon pawprint and other sustainability impacts of pets, such as wildlife predation, increasing popularity of brachycephalic and exotic pets, nutrition and preventative health, as well as the issues with cheap pet bedding, toys and waste disposal. It will explore the role of vets in this complex area and how we can both support clients to be more sustainable and, in doing so, also improve animal welfare.
- Understand the various elements that contribute to the carbon pawprint and how you as vets can help educate and advise clients to minimise these.
- Understand the critical nature of good nutrition, optimal bodyweight and preventative health in reducing the carbon pawprint.
- Be equipped with skills and techniques to start talking to clients about challenging areas in positive ways, such as around parasiticides, obesity and preventative health.
