With the discovery of nucleoside analogues for treatment in cats, FIP is no longer the death sentence it once was. However, an accurate diagnosis is still important due to the variety of potential differentials and need for responsible use of antiviral therapy. In this session we discuss some background regarding the history and pathogenesis of FIP and a logical approach to diagnosis. We discuss the wide variety of diagnostic tests available as well as new therapies and monitoring response to treatment.
